Ethiopia is the birthplace of Arabica and one of the most complex origins in the world. Its diversity produces extraordinary flavor—but also variability, logistical friction, and risk. Vril was built to address those challenges directly, with systems designed for consistency, transparency, and dependable delivery.

We source exceptional Ethiopian coffees and manage them with the same discipline used in high-stakes, process-driven fields—where outcomes matter and variability must be controlled.

Every coffee we offer moves through a defined quality and logistics framework—from processing at origin to arrival in the United States. Lots are evaluated against clear specifications, monitored at multiple checkpoints, and supported by documented data.

This allows roasters to plan with confidence and build stable menus without sacrificing the character that makes Ethiopian coffee distinctive.

Our work is rooted in direct relationships at origin and operational presence in the U.S. By working closely with trusted producers, washing stations, and exporters, we maintain visibility into how coffee is grown, processed, and prepared for export. Once landed, coffees are stored and fulfilled through U.S.-based warehouses to reduce lead times and uncertainty. Traceability is built into how our lots are tracked, documented, and delivered.

Reliability Is the Product. Exceptional coffee means little if it arrives late, inconsistent, or undocumented. That’s why reliability is built into how we source, store, and deliver Ethiopian coffees—so roasters can focus on roasting, not problem-solving.

Founder's Note

Vril Coffee was built from a belief that exceptional origins deserve exceptional systems. My professional background is rooted in Analytical Chemistry and Advance Clinical Medicine—fields where outcomes depend on precision, documentation, and accountability. In those environments, variability isn’t romanticized; it’s understood, measured, and managed.

When I turned my focus to Ethiopian coffee sourcing, I recognized familiar patterns. Ethiopia produces some of the world’s most extraordinary coffees, yet its complexity often introduces uncertainty for roasters who rely on consistency and reliability. Rather than viewing that complexity as a limitation, I saw an opportunity to apply a more disciplined, systems-driven approach—one that respects origin while reducing risk.

Vril was created to bring structure to one of the most nuanced origins in specialty coffee. By defining specifications, monitoring quality across multiple checkpoints, and building accountability into every stage of sourcing and delivery, we allow Ethiopian coffees to perform with the consistency modern roasters require.

This work is not about reinvention.

How do I know where this coffee is actually from?

Roasters want traceable origins—but too often, Ethiopian coffees come with vague labels and no farm-level connection.

At Vril, we change that.

I grew up knowing the people and the places behind the beans. We work directly with trusted producers in regions like Sidama, Guji, and Bench Maji to deliver fully traceable, single-origin coffees, complete with altitude, variety, and harvest details—so roasters can tell the real story.

What about coffee quality? What if the quality’s inconsistent again?

Inconsistent quality is a major frustration—especially with poor post-harvest handling or exporters who don't cup before shipping.

With a healthcare background, precision and excellence are in my DNA. Every lot is evaluated, cupped, and carefully curated. We don’t ship what we wouldn’t proudly serve ourselves.

Why is it so hard to communicate with exporters?

Many roasters struggle with language gaps or delayed responses—especially across time zones.

With Vril, you’re not just heard—you’re understood.

I speak fluent English and Amharic, and I deeply understand how to build trust across cultures. We’re also developing Mandarin-language support to serve our Chinese roasters with care and clarity.

Will the logistics be another headache?

Shipping delays, customs issues, and missing paperwork can break a roaster’s business rhythm.

Our wild forest coffees are USDA organic, naturally regenerative, and shade-grown in native ecosystems. We pay farmers fairly, respect traditional methods, and protect the forests where Arabica first emerged.
